Open BIM Quantities provides an integrated workflow for extracting quantities and creating bills of quantities from BIM models defined using the IFC standard. The application reads the properties and numerical quantities stored in model components, including dimensions, areas, volumes, lengths and weights.
Users can define customised sets of measurement rules that determine which model elements should be measured, how they should be filtered and which IFC parameters should be used. These rules transform model components into structured quantity lines and corresponding bill-of-quantities items.
Cost databases can be created directly or imported using the standard FIEBDC-3 or BC3 format. CSV cost databases may also be imported. Items from the cost database can then be linked to measurement rules, enabling quantities and economic values to be updated when the coordinated BIM models change.
In addition to IFC models, the application can obtain measurements from imported DXF, DWG, PDF and JPG drawings. Users can measure lengths, areas, volumes, angles and object counts directly within the graphical environment and incorporate the resulting values into the bill of quantities.
The software includes tools for managing currencies, prices, percentages, work sections, items, breakdown concepts, waste information and construction certificates. Bills of quantities produced by other compatible CYPE applications can also be consolidated into a single project using the BC3 format.
Reports can include quantities, cost breakdown structures, priced bills of quantities, summaries, specifications, environmental indicators, construction and demolition waste information and certification data. Reports can be exported in PDF, DOCX, HTML, RTF and TXT, while bills of quantities can be exchanged using FIEBDC-3 or BC3.
Open BIM Quantities connects with BIMserver.center, allowing coordinated models to be imported and updated throughout the project. Quantity and cost information can then be shared with other project participants using open-standard formats.
