CYPE Connect provides an integrated workflow for modelling, analysing and documenting structural connections. Engineers can create connections using structural sections, plates, bolts, welds, anchors, stiffeners and other connection components, or import structural information from supported BIM workflows.
The software uses the OpenSees analysis engine to perform finite-element analysis of steel and timber connections. Engineers can assess stresses, strains, displacements, connection resistance, rotational stiffness and code-compliance requirements using detailed analytical models.
CYPE Connect includes two principal working environments. Project mode is intended for structural design, analysis, verification and the production of general arrangement and connection-detail drawings. Fabrication mode extends this workflow by generating part drawings, assembly drawings and fabrication documentation for workshop production and on-site assembly.
From version 2027.a, the structural modelling and detailing capabilities previously available in StruBIM Steel have been incorporated into CYPE Connect. This allows structural modelling, connection analysis, project documentation and fabrication detailing to be completed in a unified environment.
The software can generate calculation reports, connection drawings and graphical project documentation. Depending on the selected workflow and licence, information can be exported to formats including PDF, DWG, DXF, DSTV, STEP, IFC and IFC EM.11.
