Portal frame generator provides a straightforward workflow for creating the geometry and loading conditions of parallel portal-frame structures. Users can define single or multiple frames with mono-pitch or dual-pitch roofs and select from rigid-frame and truss configurations.
Project information such as the number of spans, spacing between frames, roof and wall cladding, self-weight and roof live loads can be entered directly. The software then calculates the applicable wind and snow loads according to the selected standards and project parameters.
Steel purlins positioned on roofs and side façades can also be analysed, checked and optimised. Engineers can select the section type, steel grade, spacing, number of spans, fastening conditions and deflection limit. The program can optimise the purlin section, spacing or both and generate detailed compliance reports.
Once the structure has been defined, Portal frame generator exports the frame geometry, loads, load cases, column restraints and bar buckling lengths to CYPE 3D. The model can then be completed in CYPE 3D for structural analysis, code checks and final member design. Reports can be produced in HTML, DOCX, PDF, RTF and TXT, while drawings can be exported in DXF, DWG and PDF formats.
Portal frame generator can be used for:
The software supports multiple rigid-frame and truss arrangements, lateral walls, roof and façade purlins, wind and snow loading and direct transfer to CYPE 3D.
